Barrows, Howard
Biography
Howard Barrows, MD, was faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and served as the Chair of Medical Education prior to his retirement in 1999. His innovative ideas over a career that spanned almost 50 years is internationally respected and continues to inform the education and training of students and health care practitioners around the world. Among many awards and recognitions, Dr. Barrows was the first recipient of the J.C Hubbard award from the National Board of Medical Examiners in recognition of his contributions to evaluation in medical education. He was a prolific author and contributed greatly to Problem Based Learning.
